Michael Mosley has named two foods you must eat if you want to lose weight and keep it off.
Now is the time many people kick off commitments to become healthier and fitter, but the reality is that not everyone is always successful. This can happen for many reasons, from the pressure of setting unrealistic goals to being disappointed when you don't see results.
On the latest episode of his Just One Thing podcast, Michael sat down with biologist and weight loss expert Professor Giles Yeo to discuss the pitfalls of trying to shed pounds. The experts stressed that slimmers who want long lasting results should be regularly eating plenty of protein and a "hell of a lot" more fibre.
With a new year underway, the health guru has spoken on all things slimming to help anyone struggling to keep the pounds off.
They dove into the murky subject of dieting and while Professor Yeo said "there is no one perfect diet" that works for everyone, he spoke highly of one followed by Italians, Spanish and French people. Speaking on diets, Michael pointed out that there are "certainly a lot of mad ones," and Professor Yeo echoed this sentiment.
"There certainly are a lot of mad ones but a lot of the mad ones do work, a lot of the mad ones don't work either, but just not for everybody," he responded.
"So I think diets that work very very well for some people and have absolutely no effect on other people, or other people can't stick to them and I think that's what it is. You need to find the best diet for you when you're trying to lose weight is one you can stick to."
