ITV's The Chase is known for featuring some of the best quizzers on the circuit - and now, guest star Dom Joly has revealed just how seriously the Chasers take the show in order to stay at the top. Comedian Dom said that when he was a celebrity contestant on the show, hosted by Bradley Walsh, he saw Mark Labbett - aka The Beast - become so angry about a call on one question that the show had to be stopped while they argued. Dom appeared on Beat The Chasers where he managed to beat all five chasers, winning £50k for charity.
But he told the Daily Star that The Beast was left fuming over one decision, and he was stunned by the quizzer's reaction.
Talking about his star turn on Beat The Chasers, Dom revealed: "I always win those, I love doing quizzes, I travel a lot and read a lot, I'm not stupid. I don't know whether they dumb down the questions with celeb versions, they say they don't... "But what I really liked about beating the Chasers was how angry they got.
You kind of think 'Do they give a s***? It's not their money they're handing over'. It certainly wasn't my money either, it was going to charity. "They started arguing and they actually had to stop the show.
And The Beast challenged something and wanted to rethink and in the end, he lost the judgment and then they stopped the clock again. I kind of loved that. " The Beast's outburst isn't the only time that filming on The Chase has had to be halted - host Bradley previously told how ITV's lawyers would stop him mid-recording if he misread a question.
