The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh is a fan-favourite to become the new permanent This Morning host and take over Phillip Schofield's former position on the iconic ITV sofa. The result came following a survey from Betfair Slots, which saw the 63 year old Gladiators host win the "wild card" spot. Bradley was amongst other big-name stars predicted to take the permanent Monday to Thursday role, but won 25 per cent of the vote.
Funny man Alan Carr was next to be voted as the wild card presenter with 21 per cent, while Amanda Holden received 17 per cent. Strictly Come Dancing and The Traitors host Claudia Winkleman was next with 15 per cent of the wild card vote. Fans voted for Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, who currently helm Fridays every week and a string of other days while producers continue to search for their permanent stars, as the ultimate weekday hosts.
Former Friday favourites Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford are still high up the list for a surprise return. Rylan Clark and Josie Gibson also remain on the list to take the coveted top presenter spot. Despite the vote, which appeared to give a clearer insight into Brits' desires for the daytime telly programme, ITV bosses could be going a very different way.
Instead, the latest reports claim producers are keen to secure Good Morning Britain presenter Ben Shephard and 90s kids TV host Cat Deeley as the new top partnership. It comes following weeks of "live on-air trials" for a number of This Morning presenters, as well as the recent announcement that radio host Sian Welby had been hired for the rotating roster of presenters too. "The cat’s out of the bag – they are the new dream team," a source told The Mirror earlier this month.
