A man remains in hospital after suffering serious injuries when a Metrolink tram was involved in a crash with a car. It follows an incident in Wythenshawe on Friday afternoon which disrupted services.
The collision happened in Hollyhedge Road, Wythenshawe. It meant Metrolink trams were suspended between Manchester Airport and Sale Water Park as a result of the incident.
Today (Saturday) a spokesman for Greater Manchester Police confirmed one man in the car was taken to hospital with serious injuries his condition was not thought to be life-threatening. Firefighters used cutting gear to get the man out of the car.

Pictures from the scene showed the car had been seriously damaged in the crash while the front end of the tram was also damaged. Nobody on board the tram was hurt, said the spokesman.
A statement from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service at the time said: "At just before 3.20pm today (Friday March 8) two fire engines from Moss Side and Wythenshawe fire stations were called to reports of a collision between a car and a tram on Hollyhedge Road, Wythenshawe.
"Firefighters rescued one man from the vehicle before handing them to the care of colleagues from North West Ambulance Service. Crews helped to make the scene safe and were in attendance for around one hour.”
In a statement on its website, The Bee Network said: "Due to a collision between a tram and car there are no trams operating between Manchester Airport and Sale Water Park. For bus services to finish your journey please get off at Barlow Moor Road.
