Ian Curtis mural in Manchester has been recreated in a new location, following the original being covered up last year.The original portrait of the Manchester music icon was located on the side of a house on Port Street since October 2020, however, outrage was sparked from Joy Division fans last August, when it was replaced with an Amazon Music advert, promoting Aitch’s debut ‘Close To Home’.Now, after promising fans that the mural would be arriving back in the city, a replacement has popped up in a new location. It comes after councillors granted listed building consent for the new artwork to be located on the side of a pub close to Piccadilly Railway Station.The new mural has been created by an artist named Akse P19, who added the finishing touches to the piece over the weekend.

A woman battered a pensioner with his own walking stick before robbing his pizza. Jade McDonnell, 27, approached the elderly man as he sat down for a rest after a day of shopping in Manchester city centre.
She demanded he handed over his food. When he said no, she launched a brutal attack, kicking and punching him as he lay on the floor.
McDonnell used the 72-year-old’s walking stick to hit him repeatedly, before running away with his shopping, his wallet and the takeaway food.

Pleading guilty to robbery, she was jailed today (August 23) for three years. Minshull Street Crown Court heard the man had been shopping and returned home to Rochdale at about midnight on July 10.
He bought two pizzas from a takeaway on Drake Street, before crossing the road to sit down. "He then saw a woman, this defendant, approach him and she demanded his pizza," prosecutor Maxwell Cope told the court.
"The situation quickly escalated as she attempted to take the pizza with such force that it prompted a physical struggle. She repeatedly attacked the complainant, punching him to the face and causing him to fall to the ground.
"The defendant continued to punch and kick him repeatedly before using his walking stick as a weapon."
A passing delivery cyclist intervened and managed to diffuse the situation, before McDonnell fled with the pizza, walking stick and the man's shopping. He was left with a suspected broken nose, as well as cuts and bruises.
McDonnell has numerous previous convictions - including for theft; attempted burglary; and assault. The man suffers with chronic arthritis, the court heard.
