Zara McDermott has been announced as the latest contestant taking part in Strictly Come Dancing. The Love Island alum, who is dating reality star Sam Thompson, has joined the line-up for Strictly alongside Layton Williams, Angela Rippon, and Amanda Abbington.
This year's series will arrive on screens in the coming weeks and will be judged by Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood, and Motsi Mabuse.
Zara, 26, has fronted a series of documentaries including Revenge Porn, Uncovering Rape Culture, Disordered Eating, and Gaia: A Death on Dancing Ledge. Zara announced the news on BBC Radio 1 where she chatted to Vick Hope - who previously appeared on Strictly in 2018 - and Jordan North.
In a statement, Zara said: "I grew up watching it every year with my nan and she was the biggest Strictly fan. We would dance around the house and I have such fond memories of that time in my life.
"I even remember the first ever series, and being mesmerised by all the beautiful dresses! I can't wait to throw myself into this experience and start training. It's going to be incredible."
It comes after Angela Scanlon, known for hosting Your Home Made Perfect on BBC Two, as well as for her work on The One Show and Robot Wars, was announced as the sixth celebrity to join the BBC show.
