Former Manchester United transfer target Jurrien Timber has confirmed that he is open to the possibility of leaving Ajax this forthcoming summer.
The defender, who can operate at either right-back or centre-back, was earmarked as United's priority defensive target ahead of the start of the campaign, as manager Erik ten Hag targeted a reunion with the Dutchman. However, it became clear that Ajax were not prepared to let go of the 21-year-old without a fight, meaning the Reds focused their efforts on alternative options.
Timber, who made 74 first-team appearances under Ten Hag, then signed a contract extension at the Johan Cruyff Arena later in the summer, committing his future to the club until the summer of 2025. His original deal was due to expire 12 months earlier in June 2024.

However, less than a year after putting pen to paper on a new deal at Ajax, Timber, who has made 35 appearances in all competitions this season, has admitted that he will reassess his options in the forthcoming summer transfer window.
"You never know what will come your way," Timber told Ajax Live. "Last summer there was interest, but I made the choice to stay with Ajax.
"Next summer I will look at the options again and make a choice. I'm in the right place at Ajax, that's the most important thing for now."
At the time of writing, it remains to be seen if United will choose to rekindle their interest in the Netherlands international in the summer. United are set to prioritise the addition of a new striker and a younger central midfielder in the upcoming transfer window.
However, they could also be on the hunt for a new right-back. Although Aaron Wan-Bissaka has played his way back
