Left-back Luke Shaw is adamant that Manchester United will "bounce back" from Sunday's 7-0 defeat to Liverpool when they face Real Betis in the Europa League at Old Trafford on Thursday evening.
United, who knocked Barcelona out of the competition in the previous round, will be determined to get back on track at the first available opportunity after their crushing defeat at Anfield. After finding themselves 1-0 down at the interval, the Reds collapsed in the second half, conceding six times without reply to mark their heaviest defeat since Boxing Day 1931.
Liverpool, who had beaten the Reds 4-0 the last time the two sides had met at Anfield, found it all too easy in the second half, slicing through United like a knife through butter. The Reds' showing was littered with errors and too many players were guilty of downing tools before the full-time whistle.

Fortunately, United have the opportunity to get it out of their system quickly, courtesy of their Europa League last-16 first-leg tie with Betis, where they will be under pressure to deliver a response. And while Shaw, who had a torrid time at Anfield, accepted the Reds' performance was an embarrassment, he is confident that he and his teammates will respond against Betis.
"It was embarrassing, disgraceful, and it's not acceptable what that second half was," said Shaw. "We can't let this one result derail our whole season because we're in a really good place.
"As a team, we will recover, and overcome it positively. I think we will bounce back against Betis, I'm sure of that, as we need to make peace with the fans.
"It's another hurdle we need to go over and as a team we'll climb over that."
