Former Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster said that he is earning 'peanuts' at National League leaders Wrexham after he joined them earlier this week.
Speculation about his wage has been rife as supporters of teams in the fifth tier complained that the shot stopper's signing highlighted the gulf in finances between Wrexham and the rest of the division. However, Foster has dispelled those rumours, suggesting that his salary is nowhere near what he was earning at his last club Watford.
Speaking on Fozcast, the ex-United man's own podcast, the 39-year-old said: "I don’t need much [money]. To be honest, the negotiations took about five minutes.

The Welsh club's club's co-owner Ryan Reynolds appeared to verify his comments on Twitter when he retweeted the quotes Foster made.
Foster made his debut for Wrexham on Saturday at the Racecourse Ground as the leaders beat York City 3-0. An own goal by 'keeper Ryan Whitley gave the hosts the lead just before the break.
Sam Dalby made it two with ten minutes of the game remaining and Elliott Lee wrapped up the points in stoppage time as Wrexham scored their 100th goal of the season. Post-match, manager Phil Parkinson explained that it was a risk to play Foster because he had been out of action since the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
"It was always a big call whether to play Ben Foster because he hasn't played for so long," Parkinson said. "He was 100 per cent adamant he was ready."
