BBC Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden says it was 'so cruel' as she gives 'life' update

Amy Dowden has said last year's Strictly Come Dancing was 'so cruel' and 'bittersweet' as she made a triumphant return before the end of the series following her cancer treatment. It was last May that the dancer announced she'd been diagnosed with breast cancer.
She shared the personal news after undergoing a mastectomy before later documenting going through eight rounds of chemotherapy and faced multiple complications before ringing the bell to signal the end of her treatment in November.
And last week, the Welsh star told her Instagram followers on Friday (February 23) that there was now 'no evidence of disease' and that it was 'time to look ahead'.

But after doctors changed her course of treatment upon doctors finding another type of cancer, it meant that she wasn't able to make a swift return to Strictly like she had hoped. She was able to join her fellow pros behind the scenes and also joined an epic group performance on the show despite fracturing her foot.
And during a fresh interview, Amy shared how she is hoping to return to the BBC One dance contest after finding it "so cruel" to have to watch from the side-lines last year while undergoing her cancer treatment.
Appearing on BBC Breakfast on Friday (March 1), the 33-year-old said: "This is the longest I’ve never danced for since May so I need to get my body back into it. And obviously, my body’s been through so much with chemo so it’s building up gradually.
