Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden has recalled the moment she nearly died after she developed sepsis during her cancer battle.

Amy Dowden is returning for a second series of her BBC Wales show Dare to Dance, teaching extraordinary people across Wales how to strut their stuff on the ballroom floor once again. The Strictly star has spent the last nine months battling grade three breast cancer, undergoing a mastectomy and chemotherapy in treatment after starting to shoot Dare to Dance.
In an exclusive interview with OK!, Amy said that "so grateful" that Dianne Buswell, Graziano Di Prima, Oti Mabuse and Carlos Gu stepped in to coach the contributors on her show while she recovered from her mastectomy. “I was so grateful that they came on board and did everything to help,” she said. "I know them and their personalities and their teaching styles.
"I knew Carlos would be perfect for Kirsty [who grew up dancing but stopped when she lost her sight], and Graz would be perfect for Rich [a firefighter who loves street dance]." She added, "It was a lovely surprise for the contributors – they got to learn from them, pick up tips from them. It was great!” Amy returned after her mastectomy and managed to finish filming before starting chemotherapy. “It was exactly what I needed,” she said.
“When I was there, I was in the world that I love and I was out of my cancer reality so I wasn’t thinking about it.
