The sounds of the 60s and 70s will be brought to life with the BBC Concert Orchestra in a special night celebrating Northern Soul music.
Following the success of the Northern Soul BBC Prom at the Royal Albert Hall in July last year, the famed orchestra is heading out on the road as part of a tour curated by 6 Music’s Stuart Maconie.
Northern Soul Orchestrated will feature some of the most famous songs from the era performed in brilliant fashion by the famed orchestra. The tour will come to Manchester’s Aviva Studios at Factory International on May 15 - with tickets on sale on Friday (March 1).

The orchestra will be conducted by Manchester-based Joe Duddell alongside Fiona Brice and will perform amazing new arrangements of Northern Soul classic anthems with a host of special guest vocalists. Stuart, who also presented a Northern Soul All-Nighter on 6 Music last September, will host the show.
Stuart said: "Northern Soul is music at its most exciting and alive. This is the sound of the streets and the dancefloors, rich with passion, ecstasy, heartbreak and joy. We cannot wait to bring these fabulous songs and performances to the heart of the cities where they are cherished."
Composer Joe added: “After the tremendous response to the Northern Soul BBC Prom last July, it’s great to be taking this out around the country and reunite with the same performers.”
Northern Soul Orchestrated will begin in Wolverhampton and will also head to locations in London, Sheffield and Gateshead as part of the five-date tour. Tickets will go on sale on Friday at 9am here.
