Manchester United fan favourite Dimitar Berbatov is now open to the idea of including youngster Kobbie Mainoo in the England squad for this summer's European Championship.
Mainoo was the breakout star of the pre-season tour of the United States, but he sustained an injury against Real Madrid in Houston, which meant he missed the start of the campaign. The midfielder was carefully handled upon his return to action in the autumn and he's made exceptional progress since his full recovery.
Mainoo is now one of the first names on the team sheet and his performances have linked him with a call-up to play for England. Although Mainoo is eligible to play for Ghana through his parents, he has represented England throughout the youth system and has an outside chance of making the Euro 2024 squad.

Speaking at the start of the month, Berbatov warned against rushing Mainoo into the England side, but he's now changed his stance and believes he could deal with the pressure.
"I saw some of the pundits in the UK were calling for Mainoo to be in consideration for the England squad," Berbatov told Betfair. "My opinion has not changed; we shouldn't overhype young players that are playing well for their club, but at the same time, if he continues his form, then it won't be a bad idea to include him in the 23-man squad.
"If Gareth Southgate has other ideas and he's not pressured by public opinion despite seeing the quality in Mainoo, maybe he will take him for the experience, but in his mind it's too early to include him in the team. It might be beneficial just to soak in all the experience, to be around other
