Fans of Kate Garraway and Holly Willoughby have slammed Katie Hopkins, and called for her to be banned from social media, following some ill-tempered video rants. The former Apprentice star took aim at Kate Garraway after she lost her husband, Derek Draper, and has now turned on Holly following her return to Dancing on Ice, reports the Mirror.
This week, Katie was slammed on social media for mocking the grief of Kate Garraway, just days after she lost her husband Derek. The 56-year-old TV presenter was left heartbroken when Derek sadly died following a four-year battle against Covid.
The former political lobbyist developed Covid right at the beginning of the pandemic in March 2020, and was one of the most affected Covid patients across the globe. Derek was in a coma for almost three months, was left unable to speak and remained in hospital for over a year.
Kate had flown Derek to Mexico in November last year to undergo a new treatment in the hope it would help his condition, however he suffered a heart attack while away receiving medical care.
Derek was flown back to the UK and was treated in an intensive care unit before he passed away on January 3, due to complications caused by the virus. Derek passed away at the age of 56, and left behind his wife Kate and two children - Darcy, 17, and Billy, 14.
Following Derek's tragic death, Katie Hopkins, 48, mocked Kate's loss of her husband, and discussed the family's heartbreaking tragedy in a wine-fueled rant on social media.
In the video, Hopkins threw back some red wine as she claimed to followers ITV would be screening a 'Life After Derek' TV special that evening, and Kate had hurriedly produced a book to discuss her husband's death. Neither the documentary nor book exists.
