There’s nothing quite like a post-villa makeover for the Love Island contestants, with plenty of them opting for a fresh new look following their time on the show. One of the latest Islanders to undergo a hair transformation is Kady McDermott, who made a shock return to the villa this season as a bombshell, after first appearing on season 2 of the hit dating show.
Although she arrived in the villa with a light caramel brunette hair colour, it seems several weeks in the sun have taken its toll on Kady’s hair, as she took to Instagram to reveal she’d had to get her hair colour corrected. Showing off a fresh glossy brunette shade, Kady wrote: “Your girls gone back brunette, 5 weeks of sun made it so blonde/orange,” before tagging her hairstylist Millie-Mae, who has worked with other celebs like Zara McDermott.
For Kady’s freshen up, Millie-Mae did a subtle balayage, with chocolate brown colour at the top and some lighter, ashier brunette shades at the bottom and plenty of subtle highlights to mimic Kady’s natural sunkissed hair following her stint in the villa. After so long spent in the villa, it’s no surprise that Kady’s hair saw the effects of prolonged sun exposure, which not only lightens hair, but can also affect your colour.
It’s not just blonde hair that sees the effects of sun lightening. As the sun naturally bleaches and lightens your hair, ongoing exposure can turn brunette hair orange as it gradually strips back the brown colour, exposing a red or orange undertone that gives some brown shades their warmth.
