Coronation Street's Tracy Barlow is saying 'goodbye' to the cobbles after her iconic character uncovered a shocking betrayal. After an amazing run of 47 years, Tracy – played by actress Kate Ford – is leaving Weatherfield after discovering that a heartfelt letter from her sweetheart Tommy Orpington had been destroyed.
Tommy had poured out his heart in the letter, expressing his dream of starting anew with Tracy in sunny Spain.
But her ex-husband, Steve McDonald, appeared to have different plans and when he found the letter, Steve decided to burn it before Tracy could read it. Confusion followed as to what happened to the love note, and Tracy's daughter Amy was blamed for interfering, supposedly in an attempt to push her mum and Steve back together.
But everything clicked into place when Tracy realised Steve must have intercepted the letter. She confronted him about it and ended their relationship once and for all, as reported by the Daily Star.
In need of closure, she questioned Steve: "Where is it Steve? " Attempting to dodge the truth, Steve only fuelled Tracy's aggravation as she demanded: "The letter Tommy sent me." "The note that Tommy sent me, I know that you saw it so where is it Steve and what did it say? Where is it? " she asked. Steve confessed: "I burned the letter that Tommy sent you.
I'm sorry." But as Steve tried to defuse the situation by reassuring her that her fling with Tommy was over, Tracy retorted: "It's not over between me and Tommy though, is it? The letter said as much and that's why you burned it. Shame on you." As she was about to leave, she told Steve: "I don't care what you have to say, because I'm leaving tomorrow with Tommy for Spain."
