Police have launched a probe after a teenage boy was rushed to hospital following an 'acid attack'.

A 16-year-old boy was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after being knifed in Gorton on Tuesday (March 5). The teenager, who is thought to have got out of a taxi, was found with injuries to his hand on Forber Crescent at around 6.30pm.
Local residents reported that he had been attacked by a 'large group' before the residential street was cordoned off for a number of hours.

A silver taxi was also pictured within the police scene and was examined amid investigations, as officers from CID conducted door to door enquiries.
Images taken from the scene showed the vehicle parked up with its hazard lights flashing, and officers seen inspecting the vehicle. The boot was open and a first aid kit bag was pictured inside.
Police have now confirmed the teenager sustained serious injuries to his hand in the knife attack and is in hospital for treatment.
A section 60 stop and search order is now in place across part of Gorton "following a number of incidents involving a number of reports from members of the public of men with weapons" in the area.
It is in place from 7.15pm on Tuesday for 24 hours, until the same time on Wednesday (March 6).
The force said "extensive investigation work" is currently ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the reports and that "highly visible patrols" are in place following the violence.
Superintendent Dean Purtill, said: “Our priority is always to keep our communities safe and we believe that authorising this Section 60 is proportionate and necessary following the reports made to us earlier this evening.
