Olly Alexander, known for his role in the pop band Years and Years, shot to further fame for his brilliant performance as Ritchie Tozer in the Channel 4 drama It's A Sin. In another exciting turn in his career, Olly confirmed that he will be representing Great Britain at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, showcasing his impressive vocal talents.
The talented singer and actor, 33, will appear on The Graham Norton Show on Friday, 1 March to discuss the upcoming career milestone and perform his Eurovision song Dizzy. But what else do we know about the talented star? Let's take a closer look at his life off screen, including his time with Years and Years... Olly, who hails from Harrogate, North Yorkshire, began chasing his dream of acting when he was just 16. After being offered roles, he left Hereford College of Arts to seize the opportunities that came his way.
Olly's career took off in 2008 when he starred in the film Summerhill. After that, he appeared in Bright Star, Tormented and Enter the Void. In 2010, Olly joined Years and Years after Mikey Goldsworthy heard him sing and loved his unique voice.
Years and Years' debut single was released in July 2012, with them performing as a five-piece at the time. Two years later, Olly, Mikey, and Emre Turkmen signed a three-piece record deal with French label Kitsune. Years and Years topped the music charts with debut studio album, Communion, which reached number one on the UK Albums Chart in 2015.
