An 11-year-old boy has died after being hit by a bin lorry in Edinburgh. The youngster was riding a bicycle when he was struck on Whitehouse Road, near the junction with Braehead Road, at around 8.20am on Friday, 1 March.

A woman was rushed to hospital after being robbed by a man and a woman outside of an Alexandria house on Friday.
The suspects approached the woman on Colquhoun Drive at around 11.35pm on February 9. She was punched in the head before they made off with her mobile.
Emergency services attended and the lady was taken to a nearby hospital. She was treated for a head injury.
Detectives are now appealing for witnesses and have urged anyone with any information to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Neil Allison said: “We are appealing for anyone who was in Colquhoun Drive late on Friday evening and may have noticed anything suspicious to please get in touch.
“In particular we would ask people with private CCTV or dashcam footage of the surrounding area to check in case they have captured anything which could be of significance.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0002 of Saturday, 10 February, 2024. Alternatively you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
