And speaking to Sky Sports after the loss, Kompany said: "Look, we had five guys who started for the first time for the club and a player who started for the first time in his career and overall we had chances, and we knew it was going to be tough.
"We have to take the positives from this game. You can't feel good with a defeat, but I have seen enough to show that we've made progress since the last time we played them.
"And like I have said before, this is the worst we will be all season so this team is only going to get stronger."
