Two of the most haunted places in the UK can be found right here in Greater Manchester, new research has shown. Salford in fact takes the crown for being the most haunted city in the UK - so it might be worth planning a visit there this Halloween.
Wanna-be ghosthunters in Greater Manchester can rejoice, as the second most haunted place can be found just over Salford’s border with Bolton nabbing the number two spot. Meanwhile Chichester was named the third most haunted town or city.
The analysis, conducted by BonusFinder, looked at a range of factors for the research, including the number of cemeteries, reported ghost sightings, haunted locations and the number of paranormal investigators. It also looked at the number of abandoned properties and houses over 100 years old, all in relation per 10,000 people.

Salford received a score of 8.5 out of 10, in part thanks to its numerous cemeteries, memorials and abandoned properties. It’s also home to haunted hotspot, Ordsall Hall, said to be home of the ‘White Lady’.
It’s said that she’s the spirit of Margaret Radclyffe, the daughter of the former owner. She fell in love with a man her family disapproved of which lead to her tragic death. Her ghost is sometimes spotted roaming the house dressed all in white. Wardley Hall is also associated with the legend of the Wardley Witch, a local tale that amplifies its reputation as a haunted hotspot.
Bolton closely follows with a score of 8.4. One of the most renowned haunted locations in Bolton is Smithills Hall. It boasts a
