Homes in Manchester are now priced almost six times higher than what they were at the turn of the millennium. 20 years ago, the average house in the borough cost £41,625, but this has since shot up to £241,956 according to the latest data - that’s a rise of 481 percent.

But it's not only Manchester that has seen a house price surge, as each of the nine other Greater Manchester boroughs have also seen huge growths over the last 20 years. According to our data, Oldham, Bury, Trafford and Salford were also amongst the top 20 areas with the biggest percentage rises across the UK.
