Strictly's Amy Dowden hints possible return to BBC show as dancer battles cancer

Amy Dowden has hinted she may be returning to Strictly screens as the dancer battles cancer.
The 33 year-old was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer back in May and was expected to miss the latest series which airs tonight on BBC. But a new social media post shared by Amy wishing the Strictly team good luck ahead of the show's return indicates that this may not be the case.
It comes after the Welsh native shared an emotional video as she undergoes chemotherapy for her condition. In an Instagram post shared on Saturday, Amy wrote: "Happy live show day @bbcstrictly wishing the entire team a fabulous show and I know it’s going to be amazing!
"I’ve been kept up to date with the pros and a few sneaky FaceTimes! Literally can’t wait to watch and support you all. Hopefully I’ll be there in a few weeks"
Since her diagnosis, Amy has been open with fans on her cancer battle, even sharing what she called "the hardest step" - losing her hair. In a bid to "take back control" Amy took it upon herself to shave her head with the help of friends and family.
In the video shared to Instagram on Thursday, a teary Amy is surrounded by loved ones who each cut a piece of her hair before the remainder is shaved off. Paired with the clip, a caption read: “This too shall pass”
"Taking control- The hardest step so far. I tried my best to save it. I know it’s only hair but these past few months I’ve had what feels like so much taken away from me that has made me not feel like Amy.
"I’m missing every possible aspect of dancing. I just wanted to keep my identity with my hair and I tried telling myself it wouldn’t go. But I would dread the pain of waking up to the shredding everyday."
