Legendary singer Sir Elton John has sent his 'love and thoughts' to Kate Garraway and her family following the death of her husband Derek Draper.
Derek's death was announced by Kate in an Instragram post on Friday morning. The former lobbyist and political adviser, who was 56, had been suffering long-lasting symptoms from coronavirus.
Writing on social media Sir Elton wrote: “So sorry to hear of this news, Kate. Love and thoughts to you and your family x”

Earlier this year Kate and Derek were left in tears and attending the Rocket Man’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road concert at London’s O2 Arena in April, with their children Darcey and Billy. They had been invited by Sir Elton as the guests of honour.
During the show Sir Elton told fans that Good Morning Britain star Kate and her husband former political advisor husband Derek had endured "really tough times" following Derek's Covid ordeal which began in early 2020.
He told the crowd, before singing Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me for the couple: "They’re inspiring. They’ve never given up and I’m so thrilled they’re here, I can’t believe they are here."
He added: "I want to dedicate this song to the people I mentioned before, but especially to you guys."
At the time Kate said the moment left her and her family in tears. Posting on Instagram back in April alongside a video of Sir Elton singing, she said: "So this was a moment. Finally found someone who had actually filmed it rather than just burst into joyous tears as we did!!!
"Still can’t quite believe we were there at all - even hours before we feared Derek would be too weak - but he was determined. "
