Pep Guardiola says he made wholesale changes to his Manchester City side to keep his full squad involved during this busy period of the season.
City travel across Manchester to Old Trafford on Sunday for a hotly anticipated derby with Manchester United, but first must take on Young Boys in Switzerland on Wednesday. With two wins from two in the Champions League so far, Guardiola has eyed qualification in a fortnight when Young Boys travel to the Etihad.
However, he made seven changes for the Young Boys clash from the side that beat Brighton at the weekend, recalling goalkeeper Ederson after a rest, as well as Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, Rico Lewis, Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes and Jack Grealish.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Guardiola said he would have made 11 changes if he could, saying: "I would like to do more changes, everyone to be involved in this time of the season."
Asked if Erling Haaland could have been rested at Young Boys, where he starts, Guardiola insisted the striker's importance outweighed any fitness concerns.
"He's strong, he feels good. Erling is so important to us," Guardiola said. "Today we ave an opportunity, don't qualify mathematically but make a step closer to rest this competition until February."
