The Premier League has confirmed Paul Tierney will officiate the first Manchester derby of the season at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Tierney has officiated five Premier League matches so far this season, most recently in charge Wolverhampton Wanderers' 2-1 victory over AFC Bournemouth last weekend. In midweek, the Wigan-born official dropped into the Championship for the first time this campaign to referee Stoke City's 1-0 win over Leeds United.
In total, Tierney has been the man in the middle for seven matches and has dished out 32 yellow cards, averaging out at four and a half bookings per fixture. He has dismissed three players this season too, two second yellows and one straight red.

Notably, Tierney was the man in the middle when the two Manchester clubs faced each other at Wembley Stadium in the FA Cup final back in June. City were of course victorious on the day thanks to a 2-1 win.
Ilkay Gundogan's brace secured the domestic cup either side of Bruno Fernandes' penalty which was deemed by some as being controversially awarded after Jack Grealish was adjudged to have handled a header by Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the area.
On Sunday, Tierney will be assisted by Neil Davies and Scott Ledger while Craig Pawson takes on the duties of fourth official. At Stockley Park, Michael Oliver will be in charge of VAR with Stuart Burt assisting him.
A win for City tomorrow will see them close the gap on Tottenham Hotspur at the top of the table while a United three points will move them to within striking distance of the top four and just one win behind the Blues.
