John Stones will be out for 'a while', Pep Guardiola says, after being substituted at half-time of Manchester City's win over Young Boys.
Stones missed City's first ten games of the season, returning a month ago as the Blues' injury issues looked to be shortening. But after a mysterious half-time substitution against Young Boys in the Champions League, the defender now appears to have suffered a setback.
Speaking after the game, Guardiola said the England centre-back will be out for some time, and said he 'feels sorry' for Stones. The manager added that fellow defender Manu Akanji was a last-minute withdrawal from the starting line-up on Tuesday with a back injury, rather than the illness that was initially communicated.

"Well, Manu had a problem in his back. John felt it again," Guardiola told TNT Sports. "I feel so sorry for him. It's a big loss for us. John is so important for what he does. But recover and the season is long; he will be back stronger. I think he will be out for a while."
In his press conference, Guardiola said on Stones: "It's muscular, will be a while out. A pity for him, incredible professional. A pity and bad news for us."
On Akanji, Guardiola hoped that the Swiss defender wouldn't be out for long, saying: "It happened in training, he looks like he 75 years old. He could not play. That's why Kyle replaced him. Hopefully not a big issue and he will be ready for Sunday."
