Meryl previously told how winning £33,000 enabled her to quit her customer service job, and she's now revealed that she spent part of her prize money on forehead reduction surgery, as she'd always "hated" her forehead.The star has a form of dwarfism called achondroplasia, which can lead to a large forehead after the growth of cartilage is affected by it.

Metallica have announced the official winners of their first ever ‘For Whom the Bell Tolls’ marching band competition.The band launched the contest last April, with over 450 US colleges and high schools applying to enter.Bands were challenges to create “their most exciting, unique and impressive performances of some of the band’s most beloved songs”, with the band supplying them with musical charts of songs including ‘Enter Sandman’, ‘Master of Puppets’, ‘Fade to Black’ and others.The band chose the winners themselves in a number of categories, based on the school age groups. A quick perusal of the reviews indicated tv critics weren’t turned on by what they saw in CBS’s new incarnation of the Golden Globes. Host Jo Koy in particular took some heavy criticism for a generally unfunny and unsuccessful turn in a performance hovering around Ricky Gervais-insult level material but never really getting there. I can’t really speak to how they looked on the tube, but I can say it was fun in the room and the results as they count in the race towards Oscar can only be considered as extremely significant, a collection of winners without a single embarrassment between them. That alone is a triumph considering the history.
