But having your nails and lashes done doesn’t mean that you can’t play football.”
She isn't the only player that believes if they feel good, they play good - club captain Katie Zelem also buys into the phenomenon unapologetically. Even teammate Maya Le Tissier enjoys sporting a stand-out nail colour before a game.
Sexism is, unfortunately, something that players have had to endure throughout their careers, Russo told Elle UK: “You do get little things here and there. But it doesn’t really faze us. We’ve grown up in an era when women’s football, especially when we were young, was not really a thing. So I feel it has made us who we are today and made us a bit tougher.”
