Former Manchester United youngster Charlie Savage said it was an 'amazing feeling' to score his first goal for Reading during their shock 4-0 Carabao Cup first round victory over Millwall on Tuesday night.
Following their League One opening day defeat at home to Peterborough United on Saturday, a youthful Royals side made light work of the Championship outfit, brushing them aside to reach the second round of the competition. Savage, who joined Reading from United on a permanent deal last month, scored his first goal for the club in exquisite fashion.
Tasked with taking a free-kick some 20 yards out, the midfielder lifted it up and over the wall, finding the top corner. It was a perfect strike and it marked just the second goal of his senior career.
Savage, who stepped off the bench at half-time, was mobbed by his teammates as he raced away to celebrate in front of the travelling Reading supporters. It marked the Royals' third goal of the night following Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan's brace.

Taking to Instagram to share a video of the free-kick and the celebrations that followed, Savage, who made one competitive appearance for United at first-team level, wrote: "4-0 win. Amazing feeling to get my first goal for the club."
The quality of Savage's strike appeared to catch former United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop by surprise. The shot-stopper, who completed a permanent move to Sunderland last week, joked: "Wait, so you take free-kicks now?!!!," accompanied by a couple of emojis to highlight how impressed he was.
