This season, however, things are different. City haven't particularly changed their form or momentum, but are facing a new challenge from a familiar rival. The problem is that Manchester United are simply too good.

City have only dropped points in four of their 13 games this term, but from 15 games in the U18 Premier League North division, United have won 14 and drawn once - and that came last weekend. They beat City in a close affair at Carrington last month to see their lead currently stand at 15 points, albeit with City having two games in hand.
As Wilkinson concedes, City will have to be 'near faultless' to catch their local neighbours and retain their title this season.
