Lorraine Kelly has given a rare insight into former ITV presenter Phillip Schofield's life a year after his sudden departure from ITV. Phillip, 61, stunned fans last year when he quit his role at This Morning and subsequently admitted to an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a much younger colleague.

Speaking to The Sunday Times Magazine, she said: "I was heartbroken when all that happened. It's just a shame for the amazing career that he's had, for it to end like that." Lorraine praised Phillip, revealing that he's more "generous" than other men in showbiz and believed that "everybody lost their minds a wee bit" during the controversy.
She then shared that "he's doing all right" but that it has been hard for him and his family, before maligning people in the entertainment industry who are "gleeful at seeing somebody's downfall." A month after his shocking confession, the telly favourite confessed to The Sun that he was too scared to leave his house and that the drama had a 'catastrophic effect' on his mental health. At the time he also told the BBC that his daughters had been left fearing for his safety.
