Ben Shephard is leaving his long-time colleague Susanna Reid as he prepares to become the new host of This Morning with Cat Deeley.
The presenter fronted his last show on Friday, 23 February, where it was announced that his first day in his new gig will be Monday, 11 March. While it was an emotion-filled last day in the Good Morning Britain studio, Susanna, 53, has since taken to her social media to say an emotional goodbye to her friend and colleague, saying she's "going to miss".
Posting a smiling selfie of her with Ben, along with a snap of Ben and fellow presenter Kate Garraway, she paid tribute to the 49-year-old telly favourite. "BEN! Going to miss you @gmb but I know you’ll bring your best Benergy to @thismorning.
Thanks for 10 fantastic years from launch to send-off @benshephardofficial" Ben's last show was an emotional one, with all of the presenters admitting they were struggling to keep their feelings in check.
Kicking off the show, Kate, who recently lost her husband Derek Draper after a long battle with the effects of a devastating Covid infection, said: "It's not even a minute past six, I just realised that's the last time we're here Good Morning Britain with Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway. I'm off already, too emotional!" Minutes later, Ben admitted "I'm desperately trying to hold this together, we've got three hours!".
Their fellow GMB star Charlotte Hawkins also added: "I have to say, Ben, we'll be doing our best to keep it together today." ITV announced its decision to replace Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, who both left This Morning last year, with Ben and Cat via its social media account.
