Lorraine Kelly will be honoured with a special gong at the Bafta television awards for her four-decade long career in broadcasting. The Scots TV legend was blown away by the news when she was surprised by GMB's Susanna Reid's announcement on her ITV show on Monday.
Susanna appeared on Lorraine with a first in the long-running programme's history as she announced a 'breaking news flash'. Viewers then saw a segment with Tyler West come to an end as the camera focused on Susanna, who then said: "I am interrupting Lorraine's programme, she doesn't know anything about this because I have an absolutely huge announcement for her, I've got her very own breaking news flash to celebrate her 40 years of broadcasting. So I've come from the Good Morning Britain studio to the Lorraine studio next door with the very special announcement."
She went on to reveal Tyler and Dr Hilary were also in the know as she added: "Just a few seconds and I'll break into Lorraine for her very own Lorraine moment." And as she got into the studio, she said: ""Good Morning Lorraine, this has come as an enormous surprise, I'm very sorry but the conversation you were having with Tyler just then was a ruse because I have a very special announcement for you Lorraine Kelly."
A confused Lorraine then asked "what's going on" as Susanna explained: "It doesn't get much better or more deserved than this, I am here for a very special reason this morning because BAFTA, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, will be celebrating your 40 years in broadcasting.
