"They certainly didn’t have things all their own way Manchester City, but I was absolutely mesmerised by the performance of John Stones," he told the BBC panel. "I thought it was extraordinary for a central defender."
Richards continued: "John Stones, just his position, I’d like to say he was playing centre-back but look at the positions he is picking up. He is not just in there to be a decoy, he gets on the ball and he plays it.
"The only thing he didn’t get today was probably an assist or a goal. His all-round game was magnificent.
"We’ve seen him step into roles where he goes into midfield and plays but his position was just mesmerising today. I love the way he draws people in, he pulls the [Bournemouth] player away from the ball which allows [Mateo] Kovacic to run into the space to get Man City up the field.
"This one was just ridiculous, at some stage he is the furthest player forward. He is doing that to get people like Foden and Bernardo Silva, [Matheus] Nunes on the ball and to create that space.
