Ruth Langsford has addressed claims that she could re-join This Morning, three years after she and husband Eamonn Holmes departed the show. Last year was a rather turbulent one for the ITV morning programme, with hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby both stepping down from their roles. Phillip, 61, left suddenly in May 2023, after which he admitted to an "unwise but not illegal" relationship with a younger male colleague.
Holly announced her decision to leave on October 10 in a social media post. She said it had been an 'honour to be part of its story', but she had to make the decision for herself and her family. Since these departures there has been a rotation of presenters, including Alison Hammond, Dermot O'Leary, Jose Gibson, Rylan Clark, and Emma Willis.
However, despite some suggestions that Ruth should return to the show, the Loose Women star has revealed that this is rather unlikely as she's currently focusing on other work. She told Hello! magazine: "I think that ship has sailed. Listen, never say never.
I adore that show and it was a dream to work on it. I worked on it before Eamonn, actually people forget that. I say to him: 'I took you to work, don't forget!'" Despite leaving This Morning Ruth still works on ITV, hosting Loose Women and her own fashion show on QVC called Fashion Edit.
About her new role, she said, "It's my dream job. I can't draw to save my life, but I know what I want and don't want. As a 60-plus woman, I find fashion difficult you want to look stylish but also need to be comfortable." Back in October, Ruth talked about possibly returning to This Morning, when she told Woman and Home: "I love This Morning but reports that ITV have recently asked me back aren't true.
