Sarah Ferguson's dreams of a gig on This Morning have been shattered after ITV bosses have decided she won't be given a full time presenting role, which is also a blow to Prince Andrew. The Duchess of York, lovingly called Fergie, won't be given a regular role on the show after her first go at being a presenter didn't end well.
This has put a damper on her plans to help with money for Andrew's digs at Royal Lodge mansion, where they live together, as he reportedly needs £2million for urgent repairs.
The King wants him to move, worrying he can't foot the bill now that Andrew isn't getting his annual allowance of £250,000.
This followed after Andrew decided to pay Virginia Giuffre £12million to stop a civil trial in the US. Fergie's first time presenting didn't go so well and her hosting skills got mixed reviews from viewers when she sat in Holly Willoughby's old seat.
Sarah previously joined hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary, where she helped with segments on using a defibrillator, skincare solutions for sun damage, and even spun the prize wheel in the viewer competition Spin to Win. However, Fergie surprised viewers when she offered relationship advice to callers, suggesting "saucy underwear" to spice things up.
An ITV insider told The Mirror that while Fergie was "a joy to have around the place", her appearance had mixed reviews and she had "zero chance" of a permanent role.
The source said: "At best, Fergie's appearance divided opinion, at worst it was a complete and utter disaster. She's very sweet, even handing out gifts to all the staff she worked with on the day, but unfortunately she's not a natural.
