The family of a young boy is recovering in hospital after an alleged dog attack have told of his horrific injuries.
Mohid Gardazee, 12, is at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, following the incident on Sunday. His father, Ahmad Gardazee, thanked the public and emergency services for coming to his aid in Hathershaw, Oldham, on Sunday morning.
Armed police and an ambulance raced to Villa Road in Hathershaw at 11.23am following reports of a boy attacked by a dog. A 31-year-old woman was also injured at the scene, the Manchester Evening News reports.
A dog has been "safely detained" Greater Manchester Police said, however they did not give a description or reveal the animal's breed. A woman has also been charged.
Mohid, a pupil at Hathershaw College, suffered extensive bite injuries to his right arm and wrist, his father said.
Ahmad said the youngster also has "extensive bruising" to his body and was in surgery for three hours on Sunday evening to clean and stitch the wounds, but extensive swelling hampered the treatment.
Mohid, who lives with his father, mother, brother and sister, could now also need a skin graft, as Ahmad praised hospital staff.
