Eamonn Holmes has broken his silence after Phillip Schofield announced he was stepping down from This Morning after 21 years on Saturday. Earlier this week, former This Morning presenter Eamonn, 63, branded Holly Willoughby and Phillip, 61, as "actors" in scathing comments as he discussed their reported "feud" - prior to Phil's exit. And on Saturday night, just hours after Phillip announced he was stepping down from This Morning, Eamonn, who used to host the ITV show with wife Ruth Langsford, broke his silence on social media.
Eamonn took to both Twitter and Instagram to share a picture of himself with his adorable granddaughter Emilia, saying today had been a "good day". He penned: "Pappa got a smacker.Thank u Emilia. All in all that rounded off what turned out to be a good day" with a heart eyes emoji.
It comes as Phillip sensationally quit This Morning after 21 years of fronting the show on Saturday, amidst reports of a "feud" with his co-host Holly. In a statement released on Saturday, Phillip said: “I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, This Morning itself has become the story.
“Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love. “So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future.
