Health and diet expert Dr Michael Mosley has said that a simple cup of coffee each day can improve your mood, boost a workout, and even stimulate fat - helping you to burn calories.
Dr Mosley is encouraging drinkers to try having a cup coffee – as its ingredients can help your brain and heart. Dr Mosley shared the secrets about coffee on his Just One Thing podcast on BBC Sounds, detailing how your morning coffee might be helping you get more out of your workout or even change the way you break down fat.

Coffee contains caffeine, which is a powerful stimulant produced by plants to help ward off insects. Coffee is also rich in polyphenols - anti-oxidants which have powerful anti-inflammatory effects and are good for heart health.

A huge study in the UK, following half a million people, showed that up to three cups of coffee was linked to better brain and heart health - specifically, those that consumed that amount had a lower risk of heart disease, stroke and dementia, said the diet expert. In a different study, a single dose of caffeine, less than a cup of coffee, enhanced attention, alertness, contentment and mood.
