Detectives are continuing to question two suspects after a 14-year-old boy was stabbed as he answered the door in a horrific attack.
The schoolboy remains in hospital fighting for his life after the 'sickening' stabbing on Monday evening (February 26). Police revealed yesterday how he was knifed after he answered a knock at the door on Stovell Avenue, on the border of Longsight and Levenshulme, at around 8pm.
Greater Manchester Police launched an investigation and a 41-year-old woman and 15-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. In an update issued this morning (Wednesday), a spokesperson for the force said the pair remain in custody for further questioning.

Yesterday, a stretch of the road lined with terraced houses was taped off between Gatling Avenue and Sutcliffe Avenue as investigations were carried out. An alleyway running behind the houses was also taped off with officers standing guard.
Officers were spotted going door-to-door and asking for CCTV or doorbell camera footage as their enquiry 'progressed at a pace'. Detectives said they believed the attack was 'targeted' with 'no risk to the wider public.'
However many of those living nearby told the Manchester Evening News it had left them shocked and fearful. One woman, who did not want to be named, said: "I’m shocked.
"There’s two schools here, a church, a park. There’s so many kids.
"It’s frightening to think anyone would do that to anyone but particularly to a 14-year-old child. It’s absolutely disgusting."
