GMB star Kate Garraway's late husband, Derek Draper, shared a devastating three-word message on how his life changed in a final documentary, due to air on 26 March. Titled Kate Garraway: Derek's Story, the documentary will air on ITV and ITVX, as a follow-up to Kate's previous documentaries, Finding Derek and Caring for Derek. Derek tragically passed away aged 56 nearly four years after he first fell seriously ill with Covid, leading to numerous health problems.
He had suffered complications following a cardiac arrest in December, and Kate, 56, announced his passing on Instagram on 5 January. In a clip ahead of the new show's release on 26 March, Derek can be heard saying: "I am Derek Draper. I want people to hear my story." The former political lobbyist can be seen lying in a hospital bed as his wife, Kate, sits by his side and talks to him.
She says: "You've written 'Covid changed everything'. Do you mean that for you?" Derek then replied "yes" before Kate said: "When is this story going to end?" On Monday, 18 March, Kate discussed the documentary on Good Morning Britain, which she recently returned to as a presenter, following the death of her husband. She said: "I asked Derek, ‘What would be your main message?’ "And he said, ‘Never give up fighting for what you believe in and for the people you love'.
