Coronation Street fans were confused by one detail in Summer Spellman's exit as she was seen leaving the cobbles. The teen, played by Harriet Bibby, said her emotional goodbyes in scenes aired during Wednesday night's (March 27) edition of the ITV soap.
Her exit was previously revealed last month (February) when Summer, who has been on the street since 2017 when she arrived as the daughter of a man named Charlie, told her guardian Billy Mayhew that she had been offered a chance to study in America.
However, Summer told Billy at the time that she knew it was not the right time amid his husband Paul Foreman's diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease. But later, Summer suggested asking for the placement to be put back a year, to which Billy agreed.

Earlier this week, however, Summer booked her flight to Boston as she was reassured by Billy and Paul that she'd be the first to know of any changes to Paul's condition.
Then during the mid-week trip to the cobbles, Billy, Paul and Todd Grimshaw bid an emotional farewell to Summer as she set off in the back of a taxi with her 'three dads' watching on with tears in their eyes.
But some Corrie fans took to social media to comment on the scenes. @k_heyrab asked: "Why has Summer only got a carry on for
