One mum surprised her daughter with the gift of a lifetime when she gave up her spot on Britain’s Got Talent to give her teen the chance to impress Simon Cowell and his fellow judges instead. Throughout the years, Britain’s Got Talent has seen plenty of heartwarming acts take to the stage and Claire Connolly and her daughter Tia are among the latest acts to pull on viewers’ heartstrings. As Claire took to the stage, the doting mum looked nervous as she told judges that she felt like she was “going to have a heart attack” before explaining the real reason for her audition.
While her 15 year old daughter Tia assumed that she would be seeing her mum sing a song for the audience, Claire revealed that it was actually Tia who would be taking to the stage - much to the initial confusion of the judges. “She thinks it’s me auditioning. She’s got me through some very hard times in my life.
I feel like I owe her, so I’m giving my audition up for my daughter,” explained Claire. “I’m giving my audition up today for Tia,” she added. “This is my way of saying she’s fabulous because she deserves it and she’s an incredible person.” As Tia slowly walked onto the stage, the pair shared a hug before the teen returned to the stage, this time alone, where she wowed the four judges with her rendition of Whitney Houston’s classic I Didn't Know My Own Strength.
As the crowd rose to their feet to shower Tia with praise, the judges were left in awe by the youngster’s incredible vocals. “You absolutely smashed it. I think you’ve got a massive career ahead of you.
Well done,” said Amanda. “Tia, that’s how you do it. I really love moments like this,” added Simon.
