Barney Walsh is probably best-known for working alongside his dad on TV. First came their hit show Bradley Walsh & Son: Breaking Dad.Then, last year, the pair were confirmed as the hosts of the BBC's reboot of huge 90s TV series Gladiators, which reaches the end of its successful run next weekend with a grand final on Saturday, 30 March.The 26 year old has also secured various acting roles in his career, including Law & Order: UK and Doctors.

With Casualty’s longest-running actor Derek Thompson having quit the show, BBC bosses are said to hope Barney Walsh will fill the void. Derek, who played Charlie Fairhead, announced he was leaving the medical drama in May last year and said: "The time has come for me to hang up Charlie's scrubs." He also added that his exit storyline as one of “the best episodes of my career".

Casualty bosses are said to be hoping Barney Walsh will be the perfect replacement as the lead nurse following Derek Thompson's departure. The 26-year-old actor joined the cast in 2023 as nurse Cameron Mickelthwaite, reports the Mirror.
