The boy accused of murdering Brianna Ghey was 'an extra' in a tragedy written and directed by his 'manipulative' co-accused, jurors were told.
Brianna, 16, a transgender girl, died after being stabbed 28 times in a park near Warrington. She was found by dog walkers in Linear Park in Culcheth at around 3pm on Saturday, February 11.
Her bloodied body was found face down in mud, having been stabbed to the head, neck, back and chest. The two defendants, both 15 at the time but now 16, known for legal reasons as Girl X, from Culcheth and Boy Y, from Leigh, deny murder. They blame each other for the stabbing.

As the trial resumed at Manchester Crown Court today (Tuesday), the jurors heard the closing address of Richard Littler KC on behalf of Boy Y, who has been diagnosed with autism and selective mutism disorder since his arrest. He was allowed to give his evidence by typing his answers.
The barrister told the jurors: “If this case was a play, it would definitely be a tragedy wouldn’t it? The script would have been written by Girl X. It would have been directed by Girl X. It would have been staged by Girl X. It would have been produced by Girl X.
“And the central character in this case would have been Girl X wouldn’t?
“The central issue for you in this case is whether you decide in this case you can be sure on the evidence whether Boy Y was part of the cast or just an extra drafted in for that afternoon of February 11 in Culcheth or was Boy was a fully paid up member of the plan.”
