It comes as Everton supporters staged a protest at Goodison Park before the match with Manchester United today (November 26). The club was hit with a record 10-point deduction after an independent commission found them guilty of breaking financial rules.
But Mr Burnham has questioned the process behind this decision in a letter to Premier League chair Alison Brittain. He has shared the letter on X, formerly Twitter, and spoke to journalists ahead of the Toffees' tie with Manchester United which kicked off at 4.30pm.
