Terraria‘s highly-anticipated 1.4.4 update is apparently “extremely close” to the end of development and could release soon.According to a new Terraria State of the Game blog post talking about the upcoming Labor of Love update, 1.4.4 has “reached a point where we feel like the end of development is extremely close”  (via PCGamesN).Re-Logic explained that it has been “whittling down” the bugs and tasks lists, while also taking on community ideas. The developer also dived into what players can expect from the update, most notably the evolved Void Bag.In Labor of Love the Void bag, the portable and personal storage container, is set to include an expanded functionality to enhance its use as an extra inventory.

Among Us developer Innersloth has explained how the studio almost stopped active development of the social game in 2019.Innersloth’s Marcus Bromhander appeared on the Visionaries Podcast last week (July 27) and talked about how the team was “basically done” with the game’s development in 2019 (transcription via PCGamesN).“We were basically done with [Among Us] at the start of 2019,” said Bromhander, after the game was released in late 2018 and received updates and extra content before 2019.Bromhander added that the team thought “that’s it, no more, time to work on something else,” and that some staff started “prototyping some other game ideas that got pretty far.”Check out the full podcast episode below:It was around this time in early 2019 that InnerSloth saw its social deduction game get immensely popular, so the studio changed its mind and decided to continue developing and support the idea.“Should we do Among Us 2 or should we update the game that everyone is already playing?” added Bromander. “There’s so many people playing, I wanted to experience releasing updates like that to a lot of people.”It was then in late 2020 that InnerSloth announced it was cancelling plans for an Among Us 2, instead opting to push all the ideas for content into the original game.The updates for Among Us are still coming as well, as it has had crossovers with both Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator and Fortnite in the last few months alone.In other news, it’s been revealed that developers and publishers at Gamescom 2022 could be paying upwards of £71,000 to show a game off during Opening Night Live.

Epic Games has announced that the WWE superstar and actor, John Cena, is heading to Fortnite this week.As part of the Epic SummerSlam, the 16-time Champion will be available as the John Cena Outfit in the Item Shop on July 28 at 8 PM ET and July 29 at 1 AM GMT.The character skin will also come with the Entrance Gear and Ring Gear styles. Additional optional content is also coming to the Item Shop, including the John Cena Set: the WWE Championship Title Back Bling, which comes with the oufit, the open-hand Five Digit Slapper Pickaxe, and the ‘U Can’t C Me Emote’.Live fast, fight hard, no regrets! Video game creator Nintendo will recognize people in same-sex relationships, just as they had recognized “traditional marriages” — even when the country of Japan doesn’t.Last week the $95 billion company released its corporate social responsibility initiatives (CSRI) with one thing standing out.In the “Introduction of a Partnership System” portion of the CSRI, reports Go Nintendo, Nintendo restated that as of March 2021, the company has had a policy where  “same-sex partners” will have the “same benefits as employees in an opposite-sex marriage.”This policy contrasts with the legal battle ongoing in Japan to get same-sex couples recognized by law. Attempts at national and municipal legal changes have been made, but nothing has come from it. In a recent case on June 20 in Osaka, it was found that “under the constitution, the definition of marriage did not extend to partnerships between people of the same gender.” This effectively bans same-sex marriage in the country.Nintendo’s statement reads simply that if you are in a “common law” marriage, you will be granted the same rights as “traditional” couples.“Although same-sex marriages are not currently recognized under Japanese law, this system ensures employees who are in a domestic partnership with a same-sex partner have the same benefits as employees in an opposite-sex marriage,” the policy reads.

Dead By Daylight has launched its first exclusive anime crossover with a 10-outfit collection inspired by Attack on Titan.Today (July 19), Behaviour Interactive officially released its previously announced Attack On Titan collaboration in the form of downloadable content (DLC) collection.The collection features eight Very Rare Outfits for Survivors and two Ultra Rare Outfits for Killers inspired by the massively popular anime and manga series.Players will be able to dress Survivors to look like the main cast, including Dwight Fairfield in Eren’s uniform, Yui Kimura in Mikasa’s, Felix Richter in Armin’s and Jake Park in Levi’s. Oddworld Inhabitants has announced that Oddworld: Soulstorm is coming to Nintendo Switch as the Oddtimized Edition.The Oddtimized Edition will see the game “optimised for Nintendo Switch to take advantage of the platform’s unique features” and will also feature gameplay currently found on its other platforms.Right now, publisher Microids is offering players the option to pre-order a Limited or Collector’s Edition of the Oddworld: Soulstorm Oddtimized, but no release date has been confirmed.While the Limited “Oddition” features the game as well as a collectable case with 24 cartridge slots and three art prints, the Collector’s version contains the most amount of goodies.Those who pre-order will receive a unique collectors box which contains the Oddworld: Soulstorm standard edition for Switch, the same collectable case with 24 cartridge slots and an exclusive 9-inch (22 cm) silver figurine of the protagonist Abe, Mudokon hero. Finji has announced that the upcoming indie title I Was A Teenage Exocolonistwill be coming to Nintendo Switch. The coming-of-age narrative RPG will be coming to Nintendo Switch on August 25, alongside its release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Mac, and Linux. EasySpeezy recently undertook the challenge of speedrunning Cuphead while simultaneously climbing a mountain.By duct-taping a gaming laptop to a backpack, EasySpeezy was able to play Cuphead with a wired controller by closely following behind an accomplice wearing the backpack.The team’s strategy included Easy’s brother calling out obstacles in the speedrunner’s path so he wouldn’t have to look away from Cuphead while climbing. If a particularly challenging climbing section was ahead then Easy would pause the game to focus on climbing and continue after the section had been passed.The mountain in question is Mount Mansfield, the largest mountain in the state of Vermont.

No Man’s Sky community has created its own cryptocurrency for players who have reached the endgame.As reported by Vice, the cryptocurrency – named HubCoin – was created by members of the Galactic Hub community which aims to provide a deeper cooperative experience for players of the sci-fi survival game.HubCoin is directly aimed at players who have reached the endgame of No Man’s Sky and are no longer in need of the game’s in-game currencies, but “still desire access to those things which can only be achieved by player activity,” said the Galactic Hub founder 7101334.“They want to commission ByteBeat tracks under certain parameters, they want to pay for an artistic canvas in their base, they want a PC player to save-edit a custom fauna companion for them, they want a skilled architect to help design their base or do interior decoration, or maybe they just want the simple convenience of not gathering their own resources.”According to the report, HubCoin runs on an Ethereum “testnet” and is effectively in its public test realm (PTR) stage.

Klonoa: Phantasy Reverie Series has said he thinks the game could lead to more remasters if it’s successful.In a new interview with Digital Trends, Ryo Ishida discussed Klonoa: Phantasy Reverie Series, which includes the remasters of Klonoa: Door To Phantomile and Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil. Square Enix has unveiled Harvestella, a Stardew Valley-like role-playing game coming to Nintendo Switch and Steam on November 4.During the Nintendo Direct Mini today (June 28), the publisher shared the first trailer for the life simulation RPG which featured the playable character, dubbed the Traveler, on a planet where four giant crystals, known as the Seaslight, govern the seasons.“Through the changing seasons, explore an imaginative world, tend your crops, make new friends, face enemies in dynamic combat, and unravel the mystery of the season of death, Quietus,” the description reads.In a separate blog post, the publisher confirmed that players will be able to experience the four seasons while enjoying daily life, socialising and adventuring.Dungeons will also be featured in the game, where players will be able to take on monsters if they so choose. Harvestella will allow free engagement, meaning players will be able to choose what they spend their time doing.However, every 30 days the season changes and that’s when Quietus occurs – a season of death.

GameCube title Metroid Prime making its way to Switch have yet again started circulating. This most recent claim comes from VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb, who disclosed the information via Giant Bomb’s Game Mess Morning Show. Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope appears to have been leaked by its publisher Ubisoft. The alleged release date was spotted on the Ubisoft Store, with the game being slated for an October 20 release. StudioMDHR’s executive producer has said that the upcoming Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course downloadable content (DLC) could have been released as a standalone title.Maja Moldenhauer spoke with Nintendo Everything in an article published today (June 19), and they responded to a question about whether or not The Delicious Last Course was ever going to be a standalone game, instead of a DLC for the original Cuphead.“Yeah! Sonic Team has been insistent on referring to its upcoming Sonic Frontiers as being “Open Zone” as opposed to open-world, and now director Morio Kishimoto has specifically clarified the differences between the two terms.“Level-based platformers often have a world map. Nintendo should launch an “urgent independent investigation” into Joy-Con drift, an issue that reportedly affects 40 per cent of Nintendo Switch Classic owners.According to a study carried out by Which?, 40 per cent of Nintendo Switch Classic owners reported suffering from Joy-Con drift – an issue which causes the joysticks to “drift” without user input, causing characters in games to move in the wrong direction and other nuisances.
