If you're doing full glam at any point this Christmas season or for New Year's Eve, adding a pair of false eyelashes can really elevate your make-up look. But they're not particularly easy to apply, especially if you're new to wearing them – it can be fiddly to find the right size, get the glue on and position them in the exact right place above your lash line without them looking wonky or falling off throughout the night.
Luckily, thought, there's a new lash trend currently TikTok-trending that's here to make enhancing your eyes a whole lot easier: underlashes. What are underlashes? As their name suggests, underlashes are false lashes that are designed to be attached to the underneath of the hairs rather than on top, which is the traditional method.
The idea is that this makes them easier to apply, as they sort of 'scoop' up your own lashes – plus you can keep your eyes open while you're putting them on! They also blend more naturally with your own eyelashes and give the eyes a lifted look.
How do you apply underlashes? Instructions may differ between brands, but generally underlashes are applied in a similar way to regular one – starting by applying adhesive to the band and waiting for a few seconds for it to turn tacky – but are stuck onto the underside of the hairs. Jennifer Johnson, senior brand manager at ARDELL Lashes, advises: “When using Seamless Underlash Extensions, take each lash and start from the outer corner of the eyes applying underneath.
They should be placed under your natural lashes, just above the water line.
