Ulrika Jonsson has responded to claims that she made a “feisty” comment in relation to Holly Willoughby ’s departure from This Morning. Holly, who has presented on the ITV show for 14 years after joining the team back in 2009, revealed on Tuesday, 10 October that she’d quit This Morning in a decision that she described as being for “me and my family” before thanking viewers for their loyalty over the years. In response to the emotional statement, the TV personality’s co-stars and famous friends were quick to show their support for the star, with the likes of Alison Hammond calling it a “sad day”.
Following the news, the Instagram account The Archbishop of Banterbury shared a video of a Wilko worker walking around an empty store while Goodbye by the Spice Girls played in the background. Above the video it read: “Holly Willoughby walking around the This Morning studio”, while the caption of the clip added: “End of an era”. In response to the video, a comment left by Ulrika’s official Instagram account added “Or end of an error…..”, leading social media users to believe that she’d written a “feisty” comment about the star.
“Oooh! Ulrika-ka-ka that was a feisty comment haha,” wrote one user. However, in response to the comment, Ulrika, 56, clarified that this wasn’t the case and that the comment was not aimed at Holly. “I ALWAYS say this when people use the “end of an era” expression.
Not directed at Ms Holly. Just a bit of fun….” she wrote. As This Morning aired for the first time following news of Holly’s departure, hosts Craig Doyle and Rochelle Humes paid an emotional tribute to their former colleague and sent her their “love” and “respect”.
